To preserve the history and legacy of the U.S. Army 9th and 10th Cavalry Buffalo Soldiers of the post Civil War era.
Criteria:
-Scholarship is open to students who reside in Boone, Winnebago, and Ogle Counties.
-Home-schooled and trade school students may apply.
- Completed and signed application form; attached additional pages if required
- Proof of college acceptance and enrollment at a 2 year or 4 year year program
-Has/will graduate from high school with a 2.0 minimum unweighted GPA
-OR a GED certificate
- High school transcripts if applicable
- At least one professional letter of recommendation on office letterhead
-A letter of introduction
- A minimum 500-word essay, typed or handwritten in the applicant's own words, about the history and contributions of the Buffalo Soldiers to forming America. See application for specific details and essay topic criteria.
Amount of Scholarship: Up to $1,000 to be awarded by BTMCNWI. If selected an additional $500 to be awarded by the Buffalo Soldiers and Troopers MC Frontier.
Buffalo Soldiers Memorial Scholarship is open from November 1, 2022 to January 15, 2023.
