Era L. and Frances L. Walker Scholarship

To provide educational resources for African-American males to pursue higher education.


Applicant must:

- Be an African-American male; - Be a graduating senior from a Rockford Public Schools high school; - Have a GPA of at least 2.9/4.0; - Have been involved in community service and volunteerism; and - Share the Walker's values including the importance of family, service to one’s community, and the compassionate treatment of others.

This scholarship is administered by the Community Foundation of Northern Illinois (CFNIL). CFNIL's scholarship application opens December 1 and closes February 1 every year. Learn more about CFNIL's scholarship program and application process at www.cfnil.org/scholarships
