The YMCA of Rock River Valley offers two different scholarships to support teen leaders.
1 - YMCA Teen Leadership Award
Our youth are not only the leaders of tomorrow, they are the leaders of today. The YMCA Teen Leadership Award is an annual award provided to a young individual between the ages of 16 to 19 who has exemplified leadership within the Rockford community.
Criteria:
- Be enrolled in high school and maintain a 3.0 or higher GPA
- Actively participate and demonstrate leadership in one or more extra-curricular activities OR is taking an active role in improving the overall health of their community. Activities may be at school, another non-profit, or at their church.
- Be 16-19 years old.
Award: $1000
2 - Antonio Little Award - in support of our YMCA Boys & Young Men of Color Strategy
The YMCA Antonio Little Award is a scholarship provided to a young man of color in the Rockford community who demonstrates excellence in leadership and is pursuing college or a career training program after high school. This award supports our Boys and Young Men of Color strategy, which ensures equitable outcomes by removing systemic barriers, providing relevant services and support systems, and creating nurturing environments that promote confidence and growth.Â
Criteria:
- Be enrolled in high school and maintain a 2.5 or higher GPA.
- Actively participate and demonstrate leadership in one or more extra-curricular activities OR is taking an active role in improving the overall health of their community. Activities may be at school, another non-profit, or at their church.
- Must be a young man of color between the ages of 16-19 years old.
Award: $1,000
